Wings with Extra Strong Sauce

by Michael Mullaney on March 29, 2011

The tangy smell of Buffalo wings is common in our office. A lunchtime favorite, wings are often discussed and often enjoyed by my colleagues.

Last summer, renowned science journalist Miles O’Brien visited campus to learn about a different type of wing: the type found on jets and airplanes. More specifically, Miles spoke with Professor Nikhil Koratkar about his research into adding graphene and other nanoparticles to detect and repair cracks in aircraft wings.

The resulting piece, which ran on the Science Channel and was produced in partnership with the NSF, is above. Enjoy!
