Sustainable dining. Sustain-a-Bear. Sailing the Hudson River on hydrogen fuel cells. Rensselaer does green.  And now, a student’s elegant argument for the mantra of green has caught the attention of a national blog.

Zachary Autio, a senior in Rensselaer’s Electronic Media, Arts, and Communication program, created an animated typographic narrative titled “Mind Your Waste” in his “Advanced Typography” class, taught by Adjust Professor Sara Tack.

The project uses motion type, design thinking, voice-over narration, and sobering statistics to urge world citizens to “reduce, reuse, recycle, and compost” society’s solid wastes to preserve the planet for future generations.

Tack, proud of Autio’s work, spread the word through her Facebook and Twitter accounts, where it came to the attention of Under Consideration’s “Quipsologies.”

“Under Consideration is one of the top graphic design blogs nationally and growing internationally,” said Tack, a principal artist with advertising agency Smith & Jones.

In the words of his professor – Congratulations Zac!
